Chipotle came out with a new line called lifestyle bowls. These are chipotle's classic burrito bowls but built specifically for certain lifestyles and diets. These bowls include keto, paleo, whole30, vegan and vegetarian options. This is a great new way to stick to your diet when eating out. I wish more fast-food type restaurants would follow suit with special keto menu options. This Chipotle keto bowl is a game-changer for low carb diets.

What is a Chipotle Keto Bowl?

A Chipotle Keto Bowl is a new specialized menu item designed for your low carb lifestyle. This bowl is packed with the right macronutrients to fit into a keto diet. Now you don't have to be worried about what you're going to eat when you are out and about. You can simply stop by your local Chipotle and order the keto bowl.

As I said, the Chipotle Keto Bowl is perfect for low carb diets. It contains 535 calories with 36g of fat, 30g of protein, and only 7 net carbs. Everybody knows that you want low carbs on the keto diet. If you're familiar with the diet then you also know that you need fat and protein. The fat an protein in the Chipotle Keto Bowl helps to keep you from getting hungry. Fat is a necessary part of any keto diet and this bowl has the perfect amount of fat.

You can go with a single o double serving of meat. The only real concern here is the number of calories you want to consume. For me, double meat it is.

What's in a Chipotle Keto Bowl?

chipotle keto bowl saladThe keto bowl at chipotle is made with the same quality ingredients as all of Chipotle's meals, but this one is keto-friendly. This bowl is built with steak, super greens, tomato red chili salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, and guac. This mix of ingredients is not only super tasty but it's healthy for a  keto diet. Plus it comes in at only 535 calories. That's pretty low for a restaurant meal. It even gives the room for you to double the meat if you would like.

These specialized keto bowls are just what I needed to help keep me sane on my keto diet. I love to eat chipotle but the rice and beans are the tastiest part in my opinion.  Unfortunately, we know rice and beans are packed with carbs and a big keto no-no. This bowl is a good replacement for my traditional keto bowl order. While I do miss the rice and beans these bowls are still super tasty and satisfying.

You can switch up the meats in this bowl too. You could choose from chicken, steak, carnitas, or barbacoa. Keep in mind that the barbacoa adds about 2g of net carbs due to the seasoning. It's still probably low enough to be considered a keto bowl and fit into your diet.

Can I Build My Own Chipotle Keto Bowl?

Of course, we have always had the option to build our own keto-friendly bowls at Chipotle. I've been eating these for years before they came out with the Chipotle Keto Bowl on their menu. You want to skip the rice and beans. I usually replace this with lettuce or super greens. For 4g of carbohydrates, you could choose to add the fajita vegetables. These vegetables are delicious and can definitely spice up a bland Chipotle salad bowl.

Next is your pick of meat. You can go with chicken, steak, barbacoa, or steak. If you want to avoid meat, the sofritas and guacamole are also low carb starters that you can pick. Any of these choices will keep you in the low carb range.

Then you want to top it off. In this category, you have several choices. Many of these are also low carb options. You might want to be careful stacking too many items together but for the most part, it is keto safe. I sometimes get everything I want and the bowl might be closer to 20g of carbs, which is a bit high for a single meal but I haven't had any issues with it.

The choices to top off a Chipotle Keto Bowl are fresh tomato salsa, guac, monterey jack cheese, sour cream, queso blanco, tomatillo green chili salsa, and tomatillo red chili salsa. The only thing you really want to avoid is the roasted chili-corn salsa. It's super high in carbs since it contains corn.

Any of those options will be great to build a custom Chipolte keto bowl. As always, Chipotle has a great nutrition calculator so you can see just how many carbs your ideal custom bow has. Just be careful. I picked some of the higher carb items and I was able to get my keto bowl up to about 31g of net carbs. That is probably too much for anyone as most people like to stay under 30g for the entire day.
